Political Schism and the Refugee Crisis
Timothy Birdnow
At American Thinker J.R. Dunn warns of the dangers to the Republican Party by the collapse of the traditional Democrats and the rise of the Democratic Socialists in the party.
AS Mr. Dunn points out we've rode in this rodeo before when a bunch of east coast liberals quit the Democratic Party over their soft-on-communism stance in the seventies and eighties. They joined the Republicans under the name Neocons and moved the GOP decidedly leftward, especially in terms of social and economic policies. The old Republicans, dispirited from decades of being in a political wilderness, largely left the political fight and the Neocons stepped in.
And controlled the GOP for decades. The disaster that was the George W. Bush Administration was the end result. Outside of a reasonable foreign policy the Bush tenure of office was atrocious, with liberal social and economic policies roaring back.
That is the danger of the rise of democratic socialism in the Democrat Party; the refugees will bring the terrible ideas that have ruined their own party with them. It is like moving Covid patients into nursing homes - we know what happened there.
We are going to have to welcome these folks; I see no way around that. But we have to make absolutely certain they stay far away from the levers of power.
As Dunn points out, the influx of these people may well reinvigorate the RINO wing of the party, and MAGA may become the minority. This could well lead to a schism of our own. While we have the enthusiasm and the numbers the RINO's have the money. If their numbers rise then we will lose.
This must be prevented at all cost.
Remember what we are trying to do here; we are not radicals by any means, we merely want to return to the pre-Obama era, preferably the Clinton era. Most MAGA folk just want to restore sanity. We aren't asking to go back to the Cooolidge era - just a few years back. America went mad under Obama.
But I doubt we'll get that with Democrat refugees. They are going to want to move this nation further left, just not quite so fast as the Democratic Socialists. In point of fact the Dem Socs are just more honest about what they seek. The regular Democrats always tried to hide what they truly wanted and usually got it by being patient. These young turk demsocs are just too impatient.
Anyone remember Troy? It is fitting the Odyssey just came out (even though the film was p.c. and sucked). It should be the cautionary tale for the Republicans.
Another aspect of this; Trump and MAGA will be denied credit for saving the Republican Party. When the history books are written the liberal historians will claim it was the rise of Democratic Socialism that saved the GOP because of this move by old line Democrats. They will call it the Great Switch, much like they claim the racist Southern Democrats all became Republicans and moved the GOP from supporting the repressed black community to becoming the Party of Jim Crow. That was a lie and so too will this notion that the Republicans were saved by the Great Switch. It was Trump and MAGA, but historians will claim otherwise.
At any rate, we live in interesting times. Historic times. The Democratic Party is dying before our very eyes. Hopefully it will split in two and both will forever remain two minority parties. But the GOP could split as well. And the American system is designed for two parties only - it will be interesting to see which parties collapse when the split comes.
Interesting times.

Down the ICEhole
Timothy Birdnow
The Democrats continue to commit political suicide.
THEY might hate ICE but the general public does not, and most of the populace supports kicking illegal aliens out of the country. They are going against the will of the People to appease a small minority.
The sponsor of the resolution - Michele Johnson - was a member of the Democratic Socialists of America in Louisiana.
Some Democrats tried to alter the resolution to suggest reforming ICE and not eliminating it entirely but their efforts failed.
This resolution will still have to be approved by the DNC.
Let's hope they adopt it! It will just kill their electoral chances.

Cautionary Tale
Timothy Birdnow
This is very sad.
Academic had resigned from the University of Cambridge last week
Arday was the poster boy for DEI, having been given his position at Cambridge while being wholly unqualified and in fact a plagiarist and liar who spun enormous tall tales and the university and the media just ate them up.
He was finally exposed for the fraud he was and fired from the university and now he's dead by his own hand.
In many ways I don't blame him; he was just following a path that was easy and advanced his interests. The real fault lies in the inherent racism of the university and of the whole system that seeks to overpromote "people of color" because they want to show that black or Hispanic people are as good if not better than whites or Asians and in their eagerness they take the less qualified.
Arday's story was always fantastical: he claimed he had a disability that left him mute until he was in his teens, that he didn't learn to read or write until he was well into high school, that he ran a charity and in fact ran hundreds of miles in just a few days to raise fantastic sums of money (no record of that), that he worked at a number of universities, like Ohio State, when in fact there was no record of his doing so. He simply lied about everything.
And he plagiarized most of his dissertation.
But why shouldn't he? Nobody ever called him out on it, and he saw early on it didn't matter if he actually did the work or not - just being there opened all the doors. He followed the path of least resistance.
Yes, there should be a moral code and he should not have done all that out of basic honesty, but apparently nobody ever taught him to be honorable or honest. No doubt he was taught that he had the deck stacked against him by "the Man" and that cutting a few corners to get what he wanted was acceptable. So he did.
Now he's dead.
Broad and easy is the path that leads to destruction. Arday is a cautionary tale.

The Great Ukrainians Money Laundering Machine
Timothy Birdnow
Billions of tax dollars went to international organizations promoting things antithetical to American values, the former Hunter Biden prosecutor in Ukraine says:
A lot of this money ended up in the Democratic coffers, no doubt.
From the Gateway Pundit article:
Former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, the official Joe Biden publicly threatened and forced out of office in 2016, claims in his book Biden’s Corruption and War: The True Story of the 1 Billion Dollar Prosecutor that hundreds of billions of American taxpayer dollars connected to Ukraine were recycled through political interests and "globalist networks.”
According to a Blaze Media column citing Shokin’s first-person account, massive sums of U.S. aid intended for Ukraine were recycled through political and globalist networks.
He alleges $350 billion in American taxpayer money was diverted into these opaque channels amid the chaos of war. Arms deals were tainted by corruption.
Wartime disorder allegedly facilitated trafficking of Ukrainian women and children. The book paints the conflict itself as a vehicle for enrichment and influence far beyond the battlefield.
Shokin was the prosecutor general investigating Mykola Zlochevsky and Burisma Holdings, the same corrupt energy company that put Hunter Biden on its board and paid him an eye-watering salary for "expertise” he didn’t have.
It always comes back to sex trafficking, doesn't it! That seems to go hand-in-hand with these money laundering schemes.
At any rate this explains why there was so much war lust, why the Democrats and the RINO Republicans have been so eager to continue fighting this war and funding what is essentially a lost cause. It's not the war they care about - it's the huge sums of money they can launder.
Yes, the war came after the Barisma scandal but it's clear there is a network laundering money in Ukraine. That network is still operational, which is why the invasion was a mixed blessing to the American Left; it meant more U.S. dollars being sent but it also put pressure on the network.

Mangione Pleads Guilty
Timothy Birdnow
It's finally over.
From X

Fox News
@FoxNews
BREAKING: Luigi Mangione pleads guilty to federal charges in the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, telling the court, "I knew what I was doing."
Judge Margaret Garnett accepted his plea after asking whether he understands that he could face a maximum sentence of life in prison. Mangione answered, "Yes."
Attention now turns to his state murder trial, scheduled to begin Sept. 8, where his defense could attempt to raise a new double jeopardy claim following the federal plea.
That was his only option - plead guilty to the federal stalking charge so as to get a life sentence in prison or a very lengthy sentence anyway and maybe get out of the murder charges so as to avoid the death penalty. It really depends on judge Garnett, what kind of sentence she is going to impose. I always figured Mangione would get off easy on the state level anyway since this is New York and it would not be inconceivable that he would get a weak jury. But counting on that was risky because he certainly COULD have gotten the death penalty.
If the judge goes easy on him in sentencing here I imagine the state will go after him more aggressively. If she is harsh the state may dismiss charges to avoid a complicated and lengthy legal battle.
Any way you look at it Mr. Mangione is going to spend most of his life in prison. What a waste.

And he'll be leaving a bunch of broken hearts in his wake -- hearts belonging to women -- obviously liberal (probably college-educated in things like womens' studies) white chardonnay-swilling women (I am almost tempted to say "women who own multiple cats" but I can find no proof of that, and besides, these women seem to be younger than the typical cat-woman). I'm just worried that these ladies are going to find some other outlet for their mental problems now, and it probably won't be all that harmless.

Yeah - they'll probably start harassing ICE agents once Luigi gets sent up the river. BTW the prison system needs to find a guy named Mario and make them cell mates.

You may miss this when it goes to the next page. This murderer may skate, because he may fall into the "double jeopardy" hole and just get charged for stalking, not the murder.

Taking it to da House
Timothy Birdnow
Anyone remember the t.v. show House? House was a doctor who was famous for his diagnostic skills (and his obnoxious, acerbic personality). Well, House Star Hugh Laurie has a diagnosis that is spot on - and gotten him into a world of trouble with the wokeratti.
Seems Laurie is not just a great actor (which he is) but also a guy who knows his posterior from a hole in the ground.
And that just barely; Laurie is in fact a Labourite, not a Tory and certainly not a Reform party guy (he's from Britain and was educated at Cambridge). But he's not an idiot, apparently.
Good to know!
I have a copy of the House series and think I'll pop that in; should kill many hours which would otherwise be wasted on commercial t.v.
Speaking of t.v. and British folk, I found a channel on Zumo that is nothing but classic Dr. Who. It's nice; I can turn on Dr. Who any time I like! Dr. Who was on from 1963 until 1989 when the BBC canceled it. With a change in administration at the British network the show came back in 2005, after a first, unsuccessful attempt to resurrect it in 1996 with a made-for-television movie that apparently flopped.
The new show was excellent if a bit liberal, but it has become both increasingly gay and increasingly trans. They turned the Doctor into a woman, then into a gay black man. Viewership has seriously declined in recent years as a result. I suspect it will eventually get cancelled when everybody quits watching, although the Leftist BBC will no doubt hang on as long as they can.
BTW The show made a hard gay turn when Disney got involved with it. It's now a partnership between the BBC and Disney.
The show is currently in a hiatus.

Oh no! Not Curtis Sliwa!
I always assumed Sliwa was Jewish. If he is then he's gone completely nuts.
He apparently was spouting off on "Islamophobia" and calling the 911 families "sore losers".
I fear he's been wearing that silly baret too long and it's too tight.

Rollin' on Round River
Timothy Birdnow
Russiagate - worse than you know.
FTA:
The White House Government Transparency Task Force released a trove of intelligence community records on Wednesday, including a recovered FBI spreadsheet. It cataloged more than six dozen prominent Americans, foreigners, and organizations tied to the Biden-Ukraine scandal and Donald Trump's 2019 impeachment. Democrats, including the Bidens, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Barack Obama, and George Soros, were labeled "targets" of Russian disinformation. Conservatives investigating the Bidens, including Fox News, One America News, Michael Caputo, and Rudy Giuliani, were branded "conduits" spreading it.
It gets worse.
The FBI also tagged Trump's own Cabinet officials, Bill Barr and Mike Pompeo, along with Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), then-Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), as disinformation "conduits." For what? Investigating whether the Biden corruption allegations were true. The FBI's Foreign Influence Task Force signed off on every single assessment.
This didn't happen by accident.
The designations came from a secret counterintelligence operation codenamed "Round River," which FBI analysts launched during the 2020 election. They claimed they were fighting "malign foreign influence," but that’s not what it was about. In reality, it functioned as the mirror image of Crossfire Hurricane, the bureau's years-long pursuit of the fantasy that Trump colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 election. Where Crossfire Hurricane chased evidence that didn't exist, Round River buried evidence that did, including Hunter Biden's laptop.
The FBI basically staged an attempted coup and this cannot go unpunished. The FBI should be disbanded.
When the FBI was first created there was considerable resistance to a national police force. They got around it by limiting the scope of the FBI. But now this agency has gotten completely out of control. It's time for it to be dissolved.

Judge Let's "Respectful" Would Be Cop Killer Off Easily for Being "NIce"
Timothy Birdnow
Liberals be crazy.
This guy used an AR 15 to try to take out a police helicopter and had multiple arrests on his record. He was not legally allowed to possess a firearm.
Here is the reasoning for dropping this guy's sentence from 41 years to just 13:
Post
Bill Melugin on X: "An ex con convicted of using an AR-15 to shoot and hit a LAPD helicopter w/ two officers in it last year has been sentenced to just under 13 years in prison instead of 41 years asked for by the prosecution after the judge said the defendant had acted friendly during the trial,"

@BillMelugin_
An ex con convicted of using an AR-15 to shoot and hit a LAPD helicopter w/ two officers in it last year has been sentenced to just under 13 years in prison instead of 41 years asked for by the prosecution after the judge said the defendant had acted friendly during the trial, had a substance abuse problem, and said she had the discretion to not impose the gun enhancements the jury had found true against him.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mildred Escobedo was apparently swayed by the scumbag's charm. Douglas Byers, a sixty two year old man, thought it would be fun to shoot at flying cops, a sort of Blue skeet shooting contest. That wasn't enough to get him put away for the rest of his days though.
This chick needs to be in another line of work.

Good Cop Bad Cop
Timothy Birdnow
You know, it was just a few months ago that the media and the Democrats were bitterly complaining the DOW was giving lobster dinners to servicemen and that they were being treated too well. Now they've turned 180*.
So which is it? Is Hegseth coddling the military, are they living off the fat of the land, or are they suffering deprivation and misery?
Newsflash - conditions on air craft carriers are NEVER a Club Med vacation cruise. They aren't air-conditioned, for instance. Their water is often somewhat brackish and it is hot. My brother was a PACE instructor, teaching college courses to sailors on several of them and his ship was deployed to the Middle East (he has a plaque thanking him for his service during Gulf war I) and he hated it. It was boiling hot all the time and even if you got a shower the water was warm and did not cool you. That is just the life of a sailor.
It's not supposed to be a luxury cruise; we are trying to make these guys tough. Fighting men need to be tough.
Now, when the DOW gave lobsters to military guys it was usually a treat for those going into some very hard conditions and it's always been done. But that was supposedly a bad thing.
Make up your minds media.
I would imagine our friend Bill will have a few thoughts on this as he was a submariner.

Since you asked. Ships leave port with supplies aboard which are not sufficient to last for the entire mission, counting on being resupplied in two ways; by underweigh replenishment from seagoing supply ships, and by in-port calls in foreign ports.
The former is usually pretty adequate for smaller ships such as destroyers and the like, but cannot even come close to keeping a carrier’s large crew adequately supplied.
Carriers absolutely have to make port calls to remain fully supplied. Nothing is being said about the destruction of US bases in the Mideast during the present war with Iran, but I have read from many sources that it has been severe. Confirming that is reports that air resources have been moved from Gulf bases to more remote bases and are therefor needing to employ more aerial refeuling in their attacks on Iran.
Given that carriers are being denied in-port resupply and are subsisting only on underweigh replenishment, they are almost certainly suffering from severe shortages of supplies to maintain manpower wellbeing.

Thank you Bill! All very great points and ones I would never have thought of (I have no experience with the Navy). What you say makes perfect sense.
Food probably is getting a bit unpalateable. That used to be common in the old sailing days - sailors relied on jerked meat and hardtack and it was not uncommon for food and water both to be full of bugs. But since we have bases nearby all over the world now resupply is much easier - except in the middle of a war, it seems.

Oh wah wah. The poor babies dont have whipped cream for their lattes or sprinkles on their cup cakes. Suck it up because you signed up for it. Are these stories about deprivation actually truth driven or agenda driven. 99% of the time agenda because they want Trump to fail and if the sailors ran out of mint for their juleps report it as a catastrophe. With China assisting the IRGC targeting a logical person would move assets. Dont do a MacArthur and leave your bombers parked with Japanese bombers on their way. As I type its being reported that the rotation of the carriers is taking place. End of story about the poor deprived sailors.

Yeah Mike; it is not wise to let our carriers sit around, nice juicy targets. As you say it's a good thing they are rotating them. And it DOES show how soft the military (no doubt all branches) has become - or at least how soft some of them are, and how ideological it is.
Guys, I'm staying out of the dispute about whether the destruction of our bases is happening or not. Bill's point makes sense but so too does Mike's about the media. You guys are both very smart and I respect both of your opinions, so I'm going to see what is said and done in the next couple of weeks to decide on the matter.
Thanks to both of you for some excellent comments. This is the kind of thing that makes me remember why I started this blog - enlightened discussions.

Masshole Judge Spikes DOJ Lawsuit Against Harvard

If these were incidents in, say, Alabama against black students don't you think this court would not have dismissed this in so cavalier a fashion?
The Epoch Times article fails to say who appointed this judge.

One Ring to Find Them, and in the Darkness Bind Them (the Cult of Abortion)
Timothy Birdnow
So why is it that pro-abortion politicians and others are so desperate to protect "reproductive rights" and will not even consider any sort of compromise? They fight for abortion up until birth - infanticide. Why is that?
Abortion is the prime sacrament of the Church of the Left. It binds them together. A woman who has an abortion has circumcised her soul and she has to accept the Left or admit she is a murderer and of her own baby. Just supporting abortion makes you guilty of a terrible crime and the only way to assuage that guilt is by joining the holy mother church of feminism. That is why they will not permit any compromise on abortion at all; it's the one ring to rule them all.
To further mix my metaphors, once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. (That was from Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back.)
Those who commit this sin or who stand with those who do reject the love of God and so have to go - elsewhere. Deep in their core they know this is wrong and they fear it is not forgiveable, so they turn to the Left, where they are accepted and in fact celebrated. This is how all evil movements work.
It's how all cults work too. Abortion is a cult.

Not So Hot
Timothy Birdnow
This from climatologist Gregory Wrightstone:
It has been widely reported that July 2026 was the hottest month recorded in the U.S.
July 2026 registered an average of 76.61 degrees F at 458 USHCN stations in the contiguous USA. That number was bested in July 1936 ((77.24 degrees) and July 1901 (77.84 degrees). Atmospheric CO2 levels more than 100 ppm lower than today for the two previous highs.

Childishness and the Big Green Boy
Timothy Birdnow
The latest climate doom porn.
Yes, we are likely to have a very powerful El Nino this year and the Gang Green has decided to recruit it into their service. In bygone days warmer than average temperatures have been blamed on El Nino and hurt the dooomsayers so they are now co-opting it, saying the El Nino is a "Super El Nino" and that it's caused by - you guessed it - Global Warming!
Of course we didn't even know El Nino existed until 1892 when Spanish sailors noticed it while sailing over Christmas (El Nino means "the boy" as in the Christ child). It got the name when Captain Camilo Carrillo told the Lima Geographical Society that sailors so named the phenomenon.
The ENSO - El Nino Southern Oscillation - has only been monitored since the twentieth century, so to speak about the "worst ever recorded" is to use a puny dataset indeed.
So this is just more climate porn. It's designed to terrify people who do not understand that the warming as we leave the Little Ice Age in our rear-view mirrors is going to see the ENSO intensify a bit. We may get some hotter weather on occasion (much as happens in the Southern Hemisphere on a more regular basis than in the more climatically stable northern) but it's just natural variability. But then, every piece of unusual weather gets blamed on "climate change".
This reminds me of the "Polar Vortex" scare of a few years ago; people didn't know much about it so the Gang Green turned it into another weapon in their endless arsenal of stupidity.

Texas Can Restrict Mail-in Voting
Timothy Birdnow
The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has
overturned a lower court ruling blocking parts of a Texas law that restricted mail-in voting. The law was challenged under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fifth Circuit overturned the lower court, saying Texas has the authority to restrict such voting.
This bodes well for President Trump's efforts to block fraud via mail-in ballots by requiring the Postal Service to do the work Congress Just Won't Do. The USPS will be required to confirm the eligibility of voters before delivering the ballots to be counted.
A judge blocked the Trump Administration from requiring that. Trump is appealing the ruling and it likely will go to the Supreme Court.
No doubt the Administration lawyers will point to this ruling from the Fifth Circuit in arguing their appeal.
The Carter Baker commission, which was created with former President Jimmy Carter and former Senator Jim Baker to look into securing the vote after the election of 2000 warned that mail-in voting was ripe for fraud and recommended against it. Naturally the Democrats used the Carter Baker report on what NOT to do as a blueprint for running elections.
Covid really got this going. Before Covid there were absentee ballots which were restricted, but during Covid they hatched up the mail-in scheme and it should come as no surprise Joe Biden won the Presidency with more votes than anyone in history - ove 81 million - when he didn't even campaign or show his face. Millions of mail in votes were the key to his victory.
And the Democrats refused to end mail-in voting after the pandemic ended. That was the plan all along.
It's time to relegate mail-in voting to the same place that literacy tests for voting or other practices designed to disenfranchise people have gone. MIV is nothing but a way to disenfranchise legitimate voers.

Chicoms Buy Building Across from the White House
Timothy Birdnow
When are we going to get serious about national security and restrict foreign ownership of property in the U.S.?
Yes, a Communist Party member has purchased a building next to the White House.
Philip Qiu and Family Foundation purchased the Securities Building a scant 650 feet from the White House. Mr. Qiu is not just a senior CCP member but an intelligence officer.
Drones and other such things can be housed here and perhaps assassinate the President. It also makes a dandy listening post.
I cannot imagine how someone in the FBI or Secret Service is not monitoring real estate inside the beltway. This sale should never, ever been permitted.
The Chicoms are probably going to run a police station out of this too.
Perhaps, since judges keep stalling Trump's east wing renovations, the President should use eminent domain to take this property and make IT into his new ballroom? It should be easy to secure and a tunnel could be built between the White House and the building, making for a secure movement by the President and other officials.
At any rate this has to stop. Many other countries do not allow foreigners to buy property. Mexico, for instance, has laws against it, allowing foreign entities to take out leases but not purchase property. A cancelable lease, subject to review at any time, would be the way to go with foreign entities.
Congress should pass such a law, but they are too busy vacationing and not voting on important matters like the SAVE America Act.

Another promise kept by President Trump.
Over the last year prices dropped by just 6.6% but that's just the beginning of what hopefully will be a long declining curve.
